Hot and Crowded?? As the peak crowds and heat converge on our favorite place on earth, I thought I would share what I would consider my secret spots to take a breather! (You’re sworn to secrecy…ok not really, maybe Ill meet some of you there one day!)
1. Dead-end Side Street off Main Street
Excuse the terrible title of this charming “half” street. On Main Street near the silhouette artists and balloons, there is a small little street that dead ends to Cast Member areas. Because there are no street signs of any type, it is very easy to miss this lovely spot. If you are heading towards the Castle, take a right at the Uptown Jewelers and there it is!
Because it doesn’t actually lead anywhere, the crowds seem to ignore its existence. There are even a few quaint tables and chairs to sit and relax. This is a perfect spot to grab a snack from the Main Street Bakery and just enjoy the feels of the Magic Kingdom.
2. The Dumbo Circus
This one is not a secret by any means, in fact, if you’ve ridden Dumbo sine the big Fantasyland refurbishments a few years ago, you’ve been forced by the Circus Playground. During peak season, this will be crowded with young children and their parents as they await their beeper to board the Dumbo ride. Despite its ability to get crowded and a little loud, the Dumbo Circus has AIR CONDITIONING! So take a load off for a few minutes while the kiddos burn some energy. It can make that July heat almost bearable…
3. Tom Sawyer’s Island
Tom Sawyer’s Island has been a part of the Magic Kingdom since its inception and is a replica of its namesake in Disneyland. While it could certainly use some refurbishment to its play areas, the shade and fact that its not super popular, make this a family favorite. My kids could run through the caves and the fort for hours! And really I can enjoy the peace that the island gives.
A few other Honorable Mentions include the Enchanted Tiki Room and the Carousel of Progress! Both classics that off seating and a breather from the sun!
Where are your favorite (maybe secret) spots??
