Even after going to Disney over 30 times, I am still learning new tricks! Here are my top 5 “tricks” to get the most out of your stay and in some cases minimize the stress:
1. FREE WATER!
It is hot and humid 85% of the year in Central Florida. Stay hydrated or feel the repercussions...Now the bottles of Dasani that are available throughout the Disney parks are convenient, but they are also upwards of $2.50 a piece!
BUT! At all of the Counter Service restaurants, you can order a free glass of water. From there you can take it with you or pour into your own water bottle. This saves $$ and keeps you a healthier Disney-goer!
2. MAKE FASTPASSES FOR BETWEEN 11AM - 2PM
If you are anything like me, you are at the park at rope drop. Why? Because thats when its quiet and less crowded. In the past I have been silly and scheduled my Fast Passes for 9am. My thinking was to get in, use them, and then get more. Well turns out this is not the best method. We already know the lines are short. So still get to the park at rope drop and head to your favorite ride. Then have those FPs for around 11am - 2pm. That is the hottest time of day and when the park is the most crowded. This means you are now sitting pretty until 2pm!
4. WEAR DECENT SHOES
Speaking of feet, please please wear decent shoes that you have already worn in. I know flip flops are great for hot weather, but if you're feet aren't accustomed to walking the 5+ miles in a day in them, you will be feeling the pain the next day! My suggestion: sturdy, athletic shoes that you already have been wearing at home for about 2 weeks.
5. USE YOUR CELL PHONE TO HELP REMEMBER
What did we do before smart phones? Here are three quick tips for using your cell phone to help you during your stay: (1) Driving? Take a picture of your parking spot number. While I usually remember our "animal" or section of the parking lot, this can really help after a long stressful day when you just cant seem to find your car. (2) Do you have young kids that maybe tend to run off? Take a picture of what they are wearing in the mornings. Under stress you can show a Cast Member your photo and they will instantly be able to help you find that exact kid! and finally (3) Once you have your FPs reserved, take a screenshot of the schedule. Then set that as your lock screen on your phone. Now you can refer back to your schedule without unlocking your phone. This is will save you time and battery life!
